There has been a noticeable absence of cayucos and pateras arriving at Canarian shores lately ... none in the news that I've seen since my last post above, 10 days ago now. There have been two or three stories, though, about boats picked up off the African coast, clearly en route to us, but they didn't even get close to our waters. Maybe the patrols are having effect at last ... or maybe we're just coming into rough water season ...
