As I have found alot of people do not realise that the "Rainbow" is the gay symbol.
It comes from the film "The Wizard of Oz" and the song "somewhere over the rainbow" sung by Dorothy.
The film ,the song and Dorothy is know all over the world and Dorothy is a gay Icon. So the Rainbow flag was born!
Outside most gay bars and night clubs will show a rainbow flag to show it is a gay or gay friendly bar/club.

Also if someone says to you " are you a friend of Dorothy" that means are you
Gay.
