I'm sat wathing ITV and there has just been a trailer for the 10 o'clock news.
Bong: 'Another death in Afganistan, Olaf Schmid bomb disposal expert blown up trying to defuse another bomb.'
Bong: 'The Rooneys have a baby but how much will the first pictures be worth!'
Am I the only one who finds it distastful to talk about how much somone can sell pictures of a footballers child straight after telling us about yet another barve soliders death?
Hopper, I've Sky News on here in the house and I've been thinking about your thread. I think the total number of Soldiers murdered now is 239 (sorry missed the woman talking while I'm posting)
If Soldiers were to be paid along the line as footballers, it still wouldn't be enough.
The whole system of who gets paid for what is just wrong.
We totally agree. Whaterever happens to sports personalities, their families and the same goes for so called actors in the soaps who are paid a fortune by O.K and Hello magazines and newspapers, this is not news. It is gossip pandering to the inane masses who seen to crave this sort of thing It is not worthy of real news coverage and belongs in the red topped papers who seem to thrive on these so called news stories.

The simple argument is that this is America's war to fight. Having armed the Taliban to fight the Russians, they unleashed military and cultural hell ... literally.
But, the area has always been a hotbed and hellhole, and the British have played their own fair (and quite large) part in unsettling the region. ... and the Americans don't have a history of leaving us to fight our own wars ...
It's not straightforward, and walking away from the present situation is far from a straightforward possibility, even allowing that it's a possibility at all. What would come into the vacuum if the troops were pulled out god only knows.
That's the non-emotional response. Could I bear to be there? Could I bear to have a child there? No.
