Re: Have you ever had a hostile email out of the blue for no reason?
I suppose it is a way of reaching you without having to meet you face to face. I know that with some of my clients, that they have had similar experiences. Recently a friend of mine from the UK had her email account hacked and I received a complete load of rubbish. I do not see why hackers and creators of viruses get some huge kick of sending out their wears when in fact they could spend their time more constructively; instead of being in darkened rooms, wearing black, drinking too much cola, abusing their mothers and pretending they are some huge cog on the internet when in reality they are just very sad human beings with nothing better to do. Top tip I give to clients if you are surfing the net on a regular basis is set out a trash account away from your own business or personal email, that way you can keep yourself out of harms way, especially if sites are asking for 'opt ins' for newsletters and info (great if you are socially networking too). A good free account is at Hushmail – Free Email with Privacy spammers hate it because it is crash proof and has a high degree of protection (they insist on pass phrases not passwords). They will go and sort out these dummies for you and deal with ISPs. Every piece of spam and abuse I or my clients have had, has been dealt with by this provider. Many of the usual email accounts are like open postcards, so do your utmost to guard your privacy. Hushmail, is encrypted for all your geeks out there!
