Default Diet Thread!

I know most of us are trying to lose a little weight before the fesive season and there isn't long to go now.
One of the best ways I can lose a few kilos in a few weeks is to just cut down on the alcohol and cut out completley on bread.
When I went to Slimming World in the UK, our dietician said if you throw bread into water and see how much it swells up, that's what it does in your body. I must admit if I cut out on bread for a while, the weight just drops off me and I never feel as bloated.
I eat alternatives such as ryvitas etc.,
Do you have any tips for losing a few extra kilos before Christmas. Come on let's give each other support
Christmas is coming the goose is getting fat, including me

Default Re: Diet Thread!

I've lost 17 kilos over the past 4 months doing the "Dieta 10" under the care of a dietician in Tenerife north and losing 1 kilo per week more or less.

So in that time I haven't touched:
wine or any alcoholic drinks, sugar, sweets, pasta, bread, butter, potatoes, tomatoes, whole milk, cream or yogurt, sweet fruit and vegetables (eg carrots or yellow yams).

I have been able to eat some green vegetables: lettuce, cucumber, Swiss chard, cabbage and a gradual introduction of other vegetables in small quantities.

And there is one bread that I must eat daily (here's a slice) which is bought in a pharmacy and is taken ...2 of these small slices...at breakfast with some turkey ham.

There are also herbal diuretic infusions to take 3 times a day before meals and another herb tablet after meals. Two snacks per day are obligatory, mid morning and mid afternoon.
A liquid vitamin is taken every morning.

This is basically a high protein diet....not risky like the Atkins diet....and so meat, fish, poultry can be eaten in endless quantities. A typical lunch will be fillets of hake (merluza) with chopped lettuce and cucumber, dressed with a little olive oil and vinegar, or a steak or chicken breast. I was getting up to having lentil and vegetable stew but then my weight loss reached a plateau and didn't go down for 2 weeks so I was put back to lettuce, cucumber and asparagus as my only vegetables.

Yogurt is okay as long as it's the no fat no sugar type, as well as 1 glass of skim milk per day and 250 grams of fresh goat cheese per week (I buy the best....Maxorata from Fuerteventura, sold in Mercadona.) Three eggs per week but you can add more egg whites if you want, making scrambled or in an omelette.

So without having to go on this diet ....(I go once every week to the dietician for a weigh-in and a body fat check).....you can drop pounds and kilos by cutting out all fattening things, including some vegetables such as potatoes, avocados and fruits such as bananas, grapes, oranges and others which are high in sugar.

A baked potato contains more sugar than a potato which is steamed or boiled. (It's higher on the glycemic index.)
So you can also lose weight by steaming vegetables and baking meat and fish rather than frying.

So I would suggest that as well as bread you could cut out potatoes, all alcohol, pasta, bananas, grapes, oranges, butter, cream etc.
After a month you should have lost some weight and can enjoy the Christmas treats Good Luck!

I forgot to mention....no pork is allowed, other than a bit of lean ham in the morning along with the turkey ham.

Not to get too complicated but to lose or gain weight is all about "input and output" of energy. If a woman takes in more calories (2000 is the recommended intake to maintain health) than she expends she will probably gain weight, if she eats less she will probably lose weight. For men it is approx 2500 calories per day. I believe these figures may have change over the last month or so according to a medical report on the BBC.

Working out a "healthy balanced "diet" for either going up or down in weight is up to the individual. But restriction on the intake of saturated fats, added sugars, salt and alcohol is desirable. Just to add, there has been times when I ate in the region of 7000 calories per day to do what I needed to do...but I will not bore you with the details. Going to slimming clubs etc can be helpful by way of moral support from other members.

It is really all about the balance as far as your eating habits are concerned, along with your overall lifestyle.
