Got this email from my very good friend Katy Kennedy, and thought I'd share it on here in the hope that some of you can help
"A MARATHON FUNDRAISER - Katy Kennedy
On November the 22nd, there will be a marathon fundraising event in the south of Tenerife. And all of the proceeds will go to help a little boy, Fletcher Falvey, aged three who suffers from Anaplastic Ependymoma.
Fletcher recently had an operation to remove the cancerous brain tumour, and his parents were told that the only treatment available was chemotherapy and radiation treatment. However, in Britain and Spain, radiation therapy targets not only the tumour, but the surrounding cells, and for children under five years of age, would certainly cause brain damage.
In America, there is a new centre, and a new concept to deliver radiation by laser, known as Proton Therapy. This targets only the tumour and not the surrounding cells, thus eliminating damage to the brain.
There are plans for such a treatment centre to be built in Europe, but as yet, is not operational to the standard of the American Centre.
Fletcher’s parents were devastated when they were given the diagnosis, but began to research the illness. This led them to reports about another little boy of a similar age, Alex Barnes, who was helped and sponsored by the BBC, and underwent Proton Therapy in the U.S.A. This little boy is now recovering, and although he needs scans every six months for the next few years, is able to enjoy life as a normal little boy.

Diary - Friends of Fletcher
I met Fletcher’s Aunt, Susan Falvey, a resident of Playa San Juan, who alerted me to the plight of this child.
Fletcher was born of English parents who live in Spain, and they have raised enough money to send him to America for the Proton Therapy to be started. However, they still need a huge amount of money to pay for the rest of his treatment.
Power F.M. Radio immediately took up the challenge to help raise some funds for the boy, and Gordon King immediately offered his services by doing a 12 hour “singathon
He will leave the radio station at twelve noon on November 22nd, and using his motorbike, he will travel all over the south from Los Gigantes to the Golf Del Sur and even further afield, should anyone sponsor him from outlying districts..
What he needs are bars, restaurants etc to pledge 20 euros each, and when he arrives, he will sing two songs and then dash on to the next venue.
He will be followed by a car from Power F.M. who will collect the cash and any donations given on Fletcher’s behalf.
There will be a running commentary about all the venues that afternoon by myself and the DJs at Power F.M.
Fred Dudman has offered to man the station overnight to continue to update everyone who takes part.
If any venue would like to take part, please ring me on 616110930 and I’ll put you on the list. If you don’t have equipment, it doesn’t matter, as Gordon is quite happy to sing without music or microphone.
Or if you’re in the area, then Happy Days Tennis and Bowls Club in Costa Del Silencio will arrange everything for you.
I hope that many you will be able to take part, and raise some money for this little chap who has a very good chance of a full recovery. Hitherto this diagnosis meant death, but thanks to the generosity of so many people, such children are now given a normal future; it’s just so very frustrating that it’s not available in Europe, or able to be funded officially. Until such a time comes, we’ll all do our best, and hope for the European centre to be finished in the next few years."
