Default Indian Restaurant - Santa Cruz

Well, I have pulled this information below from another forum and I am curious.

Sounds very tempting................... anyone been yet?? The fact that we have a restaurant with a sommelier intrigues me........... something Ihave not come across over here..................

If you have been, let us know what this restaurant is like , prices and more importantly, the location

This restaurant belongs to the Chandiramani

It is small (eight tables on the top and half a dozen on the groundfloor), it is classy, and 'this time it's personal'.

For the first time, Siddhartha is self-employed and he is on tiptop form.

The food is Michelin two-star level (if only we could rely on their Francophile inspectors agreeing!).

This is Indian food at its finest - simple, intensely flavoured, well-spiced dishes with inspired combinations of colour and texture.

Service is friendly (this is a family business) and there is a buzz of excitement about the place.

The Menu Gourmand is a long multi-course affair, full of surprises, delicious and wholly satisfying.

Starters include 'assorted sea scallops' - three scallops, one with chilli and sesame, one with onion seed, and one that's particularly fine with a spice crust.
Or there's a Tandoori platter: kebab, samosa, salad, and tikkas.

There's an amazing lobster dish that is either starter or main - Ginger and chilli lobster, spiced lobster jus, curry leaf and broccoli khichdi ... and then the plate is dusted at the table with sour spices and cocoa.

It's a perfectly cooked lobster tail, the khichdi is like a spicy risotto, and there's the added perfume of cocoa.

Other mains include lamb shank roganjosh cooked on the bone, and a biryani of pickle-flavoured chicken baked under a flaky pastry lid.

Not as innovative as some of the other top-notch Indian restaurants, this list is still very good, with a bias towards the classics of the Old World.

The dessert platter is the best way to try a number of sweets & the menu gourmand a chance to sample it all.

As a general belief when it comes to Indian cuisine and wine, people don't tend to associates the combination of the two but at Rasoi we think that the marriage of the two is challenging and exciting.

We aspire to introduce you to a completely new gastronomic dimension, wine pairing with Rasoi dishes is so different and so special, merging subtle spices and carefully selected wines, introducing so many layers of complexity to enjoy.

We believe it makes one of the most satisfying experiences in food and wine, if not the most!

We feel that the guidance of the Sommelier is far more important than in any other restaurant, as Indian food presents more hidden pitfalls than any other cuisine and pairing rules here cease to exist.

Our Service teams main aim is to aid you in your wine choice and are delighted to guide you in your likes, dislikes and budget, unveiling to you the best kept secret for food and wine lovers
