Default Did the earth just move for you?

Just felt my first earth quake! It just happend at 3.12pm not sure if it was confined to Arafo. The whole house shook for about three seconds

Whenever there has been one I seem to be the only person who felt nothing, but this time I had it in full effect.

Was it strong enough to cause any damage or be worrying? I've never felt one either and have often wondered what it would be like.

No Rachael. I think the only reason I felt it is because I was reading on one of our terraces. Because the terrace is the roof to the garage it vibrated much more than the earth. I think if I had been standing in the garden I wouldn't have felt it.

Well I never thought I would ever say to someone who had just felt an earthquake 'Right place, right time'!

Seems to be midpoint between the two "minor" ones:

2.0-2.9 Generally not felt, but recorded. (About 1,000 per day)
3.0-3.9 Often felt, but rarely causes damage. (49,000 per year est.)

Full scale HERE

I've never felt one, and I feel disadvantaged ... but lucky!

The press are reporting it as magnitude 4, midpoint between

Minor: 3.0-3.9 - often felt, but rarely causes damage.
Light: 4.0-4.9 - noticeable shaking of indoor items, rattling noises. Significant damage unlikely.

The epicentre was 10 kms out to sea south-east of Santa Cruz at 15.10.06 pm, affecting both Tenerife and Gran Canaria, according to the Instituto Geográfico Nacional. It's already showing on their recent quake page HERE. No damage has been reported to 112 at present.
