does anyone on the forum know anything about telephone and fax numbers, the reason i ask is i have recieved a few phone calls from people saying they have missed calls from me when i know i have not made any calls, anyway i did a search on the internet and have found an estate agent whose fax number is the same as my home landline number, could this effect my bills i.e could i be charged for them recieving faxes etc as i know nothing about this and didnt think there would be two numbers the same, help please.

Unlikely two numbers are the same at the moment - perhaps your landline was reassigned to you after the estate agent's fax line was disconnected ... have you tried phoning the agent´s land line to see if he still has that fax number. Strange about the missed calls, though
the estate agents doesn't have a landline number only a mobile i've tried ringing that but no answer although it does ring, people saying they have missed calls fromm me is what is bothering me about it.

Are you sure neither of you have used the fax line to ring out or sent a fax by mistake to the people concerned.

we don't have a fax a woman rang me yesterday and said she had missed a few calls from me the last one being five minutes before she called me, i had been sat at my desk along side the phone for almost half an hour and no one had used the phone in that time.

It could be the same number if they were your landline and fax, but not someone else's fax .....
