The weather today is the worst I've seen here for 3 years. There's bound to be some major disruption on the roads today at least. Most of our work has cancelled today but there are a couple of jobs I need to do. I'll call Janet to update this thread with road updates when I'm out and about. Please share any information in this thread to help others.

Remember 'aqua plaining' while out driving. I am sure we all know what it is but just to re cap It happens when there is standing water on the road. The tread on the tyre's cannot cope with the water and the pressure builds up lifting the tyre off the road surface. You will be effectively driving on water!.
You normally feel this effect when there is a thin stream of water crossing the road as you hit it you feel the steering change but as it's normally only a foot or three wide traction in regained before any problems occur.
The problem here is that the rain can be so heavy that the standing water can be a lot wider. If you feel this happen do not steer do not brake just take your foot off the accelerator and slow down it normally only takes a second or two for the change in speed to allow the tyre to regain grip.
If you are forced to brake use 'cadance' braking. Foot on the clutch and with the other pump the brake on and off quickly. It's the same as 'ABS'.
The faster you drive the more chance you will have of aqua plaining so drive slow triple you distance (if that possible here!) and take care.
