I wasn't being nasty Dave, just stating a fact that there have been lots of people leaving dogs behind and most of them always end up in K9 and other places. Perhaps we should open kennels just incase anyone wants to leave a son or daughter behind.

Some people should think carefully before getting a dog over here and that a dogs life span is 10-14 years and are they going to stick on this island that long.

I have no doubt at all that Debs will do what is best for the little fella

Neither was I. The problem with a forum is that you don't always know everybody. We all give advice, whether it's wanted or not at times. It's just very sad.

Just to say...I do look and think of everyones advice given on the thread and it does make me really sad if I have to lose my dog. I really do hope that i can find a way of sending him over to me asap but at the moment, there is no way I can do it. That is why I want someone who can care for him temporarily.......or permanantly if the case may be

Dippydebs
my heart goes out to you .There are many people who will just leave there dogs and dump them anywere they can .You want good advice many do not ask for help and do not care what happens to them .I hope you get the dogs sorted at least you have given time to look and ask around ..
breaks my heart about many of the pets here that are left .AT LEAST YOU LOVE YOUR PETS but sometimes people are not in a situation to be able to take them.
I have 1 dog and looks like i will be going back to uk for 3 months work once passport arrives (3 months late already) but hub is staying if i was staying i would try and help as much as i can .
I trully hope your pets get a home ..xxx

Agree with Blanche.

Its a terrible position for DippyDebs to be in and I was stating how awful it is for her and also the dog of course. I really wished I could help, but due to our circumstances we can't, there is a side of me that just wants to look after Herby, but I have had to really think through the whole scenario etc and what would be best for Herby, and after discussing it with Dave (my hubby) we both came to the same conclusion that we could not help in this instance.

I really wish her luck in finding a home for Herby. Also agree with Cathy taking any animal on here is a huge committment, taking into account all the circumstances etc.

I really don't think anyone was attacking DippyDebs but were feeling for the dog too. Which at the end of the day is the first priority.

I did not read any of the responses as attacks and would have dealt with them as such if I had. Up until the point I had posted though the 4 replies received were basically telling Debs to find a way to take Herby with her. I've chatted through this with Debs a few times over the last week and know how upset she has been in reaching the decision. I can only imagine how much the responses added to that hurt.

Honestly, this was not my intention at all to hurt, and big apologies to Dippydebs if it has done so.

Knowing you Sunny I know that already and the same applies to the other posters too. I know Debs well and have talked with her a lot about this over the last week so understand a lot more about what she has gone through. I could not stand back and watch people, with good intentions of course, add to her heartache without saying something.
