Default Spanish Flash Cards and Mnemonics

You can download some cards of really basic vocabulary here, and each word has a mnemonic. I'd be interested to know if anyone finds the mnemonics of any use (e.g. dinero = money, mnemonic: Robert di Nero has lots of money). I can't get on with them myself, but some people find them a great way to remember words.

I do this for most of my palabras del dia

We could do some of our own on this thread, instead of shelling out dinero for his book...

Last one for me was viejo=old I imagine an old car (vehicle)

Silliest one is pajero=bird I imagine packing a row of birds in a suitcase!

Spellings are guesses by the way as I learn only the spoken versions of words from regular Spanish golfing partners...

Mitsubishi Pajero
The Mitsubishi Pajero is a sport utility vehicle manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. It is known as the Mitsubishi Montero in the Americas (except Brazil) and Spain, and as Mitsubishi Shogun in the United Kingdom. It was named after a mountain cat that inhabits the Patagonia plateau region in southern Argentina. However, the name Montero (meaning "mountain warrior") was adopted in Spanish language markets because Pajero is a slang term for "wanker".

picky picky.. I said I didn't know how it was spelled.. Shows how careful you have to be with Spanish pronounciation though..

Correct spelling courtesy of altavista is pájaro=sounds like pack a row

The mnemonic is for the sound, not the spelling. The accent explains the emphasis on 'pack'

Not being picky - just careful - anyone else reading might remember the -ero rather than the -aro - and it was funny !

.... I´ll leave people to go through the meaning of pájaro given here to check some unexpected uses

You are dead right. I'm here to learn, @doreen so I didn't mean to sound snotty!

Got any mnemonics to share?

It doesn't really work for me as a way of learning ... went off searching and found this

Spanish Pi Mnemonics

3.14159 26535
Con 1 palo y 5 ladrillos se pueden hacer mil cosas.

(With 1 stick and 5 bricks a thousand things can be made.)

3.14159 26535
Sol y Luna y Mundo proclaman al Eterno Autor del Cielo.

(Sun and Moon and World acclaim the eternal author of the Cosmos.)

... not sure I quite understand it ...
