ok, when driving in the canaries you must carry in the car at all times the following:

• permiso de circulación (white card) (DO NOT LEAVE THESE IN THE GLOVE BOX)
• ficha técnica (green card)
• insurance policy and the factura (receipt) or proof of payment from the bank.
• drivers licence (In-scripted european or spanish)
• passport or residencia
• if you wear glasses for driving you also need to carry a spare pair
• two warning triangles
• two reflective jackets
• a complete replacement bulb kit
• a fire extinguisher
• first aid kit

as for your cd-player, you can get them in any electronic shop, and build them in is pretty easy...

hope that helps...

I will stand corrected if I am wrong, but I believe that the fire extinguisher and first aid kits are recommended not compulsory.

Why not in the glove box? Fear of someone breaking into the car ? What do you recommed - leaving them in the boot?

They must have a relaxed set of rules fore Hire cars, as they don.t seem to contain any of these, when the Reflective jacket law was introduced, all the hire cars had them,,but not any more.

after our nightmare experience this week, i cannot stress how important this little piece of paper is. if you don't have valid insurance, you get a 1500 euro fine!!! if you have valid insurance but don't have it on you when stopped by the police, it's a 60 euro fine...
