I know everyone has their own opinion and this one will be difficult, but if I wanted nice beaches, reasonably priced restaurants and bars, well built affordable apartments and not so many tourists, where would you recommend? I have been to El Medano and qute like it, any other places? I don't like anywhere too remote but with plenty of shops and amenities nearby.

I think the west coast above the main holiday areas is worth investigating, as is somewhere up towards Arafo ... Santa Cruz not that far away for shops!
Just one thing occurs, if you're talking about beaches, be careful about buying anywhere too close to the sea without real advice about legality.

Re: Where is the best place to live in Tenerife?
Hi we bought in Puerto de la Cruz, well just outside. We spent many holidays there of the years and therefore knew the area very well. It has the combination of both a holiday resort and local town. With Oratave and Santa Cruz within easy distance by bus. Although it is only a 'holiday home' at present, roll on retirement, especially with the winter we have just had in the UK.
