Default Whats good / bad about living in Tenerife?

Ive recently found out about the fact that the cost of living is low, theres no council tax, no tv license, booze and smokes are very cheap, and a few other things.

Ive also found out that wages are also very low and that theres a they love their paperwork out there.

What else is there that most people wouldnt know about?

I'm sure Tenerife suffers from the same in Lanzarote... back stabbing ex-pats! I've never known anything like it over here also the gossip is normally way out of control lol

Why not have a read through THIS thread ... it seems to cover quite a few issues, particularly the fact that wherever you live, you eventually have to get on with daily life, which is remarkably similar wherever you are.

Another thread you could (and should) read is THIS one ... it's a sticky thread in the Living in Tenerife section, so I'm sure you've already come across it ... but it covers most of the issues you need to know about.

I used to love Peter & Jane!!!

What I like about Tenerife is that socialising seems so much easier than in the UK. People are friendly and there's much of of a community feel. You can go in a bar on your own and start chatting to a random person, then you leave the bar feeling like you've made a new friend

Lack of culture? How can you say that? Maybe in the tourist areas, but the canary islands and spain in general has a rich culture.

i mean music. yes, you can see 20 different elvises and robbies and tinas etc in the tourist areas. i miss proper concerts. seeing a different star once a week or so... to see a classical concert you have to drive to santa cruz, as magma in the south only host a few concerts a year. it's sad.
