I agree. Rent can be 1/3rd of income.

1.000 euro/month for all utility bills, food and a few extras is sufficient. For UK immigrants buying a house here outright, 1.000/month is a figure to shoot for, which is the OP's question I think.

I agree - excluding mortgage or rent, that is a very reasonable figure. We spent about that and it included car, all bills, (incuding British T.V., Internet, electric and water etc), family shop, (2 adults and a child), entertainment, eating out 1-2 times a week, school books, clothing etc. However, for any trips, flights to UK etc - you need a bit more to put by for these. Wages may be very low in comparrison to the yU.K but in my opinion you get a lot more for you money, a higher standard of living, and of course the sunshine! We never had to scrimp on anything and miss being there so much!

Here's hoping it won't be too long until we're back 'home' again.

I think that a lot of people don't realise the low monthly income that is the norm here.

Many salaries are half that Cornflake, and lots of people rely on commissions etc to make up the difference. So they don't know what's coming in each month,It all depends on what they sell.

my god what are you doing powering the complex

under the electricity companies tariff's for basic electricity provision you are using 1.752 megawatts every two months. that is more than a third of the average family usage in the uk for a year.

this may sound strange to some but maddog, myself and molly have survived here quite easily on 900 euros a month including rent and havn't had to change our lifestyle to suit our budget.

We have found a big difference with the shopping every week, most things have gone up a lot since last year. But your wages stay the same here, they never seem to go up.
