This is what the law says: there is evidence, though, that they have decided not to enforce it in the Canaries (or some police officers have anyway).

Daddy says this is now changing as the UK MIB ( Motor Insurers Bureau )is working very closely with the Spanish authorities to trace any UK cars in Europe that have not been reregistered. Its another example of the taxman cometh! They are chasing up because cars could be being used that are unsafe as they have not got an ITV here nor an MOT in UK AND they are not paying raod tax any where. All back taxes are on UK cars are being imposed plus penalty fines etc.
Its harder and harder to hide from the taxman in any form!

It's an important issue, though a different one to the original thread, so I've moved it here to its own thread.

Don't know whether you know about matriculation, but hopefully we can get some information here about the ins and outs of bringing a car to Tenerife and getting it registered here.
