hubby's complaint was always that there was no privacy, everybody knew everybody which after a while can get on one's nerves... it was enough for him to move to a different village.

i moved to callao 8 months ago and love it.I have to go into christianos 4 times a week and it is only a 15min-20min drive but i can still enjoy the quieter life here.I am very happy with my complex and wish you well with the house hunting.

Well, I suppose it depends on the person to a large extent. There is a definite village feel, which means that people often recognize each other, which is a nice change to the anonymity of the resorts. But unless one is in the centre of the village, or go out there of an evening, I don't think it's true to say that everyone knows everone. We lived there for four years and we certainly did not fall into that category.

The complex Perikles was talking about, Betty, is actually around the barranco from Callao Salvaje proper, so although close to the village, isn't actually in the heart of it ... which is where all the older complexes are.

If you're looking for a bridgehead in Callao while settling in, you could do worse than clicking the link in my sig. Just a little one-bedder, but very central and perhaps convenient to get you started.

EDIT: Just realised I don't have a sig - must have been the other forum. Or the Alzheimer's. So here it is...

we have lived in callao for only a couple of months we have a villa in sueno azul, not frontline or anything but we prefer it that way its nice and quiet and we are close enough to everything in callao but far enough away to have our own privacy we tend not to mix with the clicky clicky groups that you get in all towns and villages over here we love it.

Callao Salvaje is sounding quite attractive to us, with information from you good people, tell me Duende what would be the asking price for that type of apartment, it looks in a nice location and great views.
