The last few times I've been at the Rocks there were hardly any flies ... and dog poo is an unfortunate problem in many places in Tenerife, Del.

I think the fly thing, which isn't generally a problem in Callao Salvaje, is related to the banana plantations. There are a few weeks each year, spread out over the year, where they spray or something, when there do seem to be quite a few, but this is true of other places too, especially where there are golf courses ... and there the problem can be fairly constant. I know the story of the lava flies, and how this particularly relates to Callao Salvaje, but as I said, I lived there for four years and really didn't find it a problem ... and I don't like flies.

There are only a dozen of them, and they spend their time on Dave's roof.

This sounds interesting for us too.

Any info on the schools there? We will have 3 kids to place 4, 6, 9.

The nearest school is in Armeńime, a small town towards Adeje, and about a five minute drive away. There's a thread on the subject HERE.

OK Janet, agree dog poo is a problem in many places, but OP did mention Sueno Azul, when I was their a few weeks ago it was worse than ever (I think the Dog wardens are no more), my friends have an apartment on the complex, and the flies were a real problem, so much so that they had to close the patio doors.
Lava or Plantation fertilizer, wherever they come from, they still create a problem, and Sueno is a fairly large chunk of Callao.

The flies were a problem a few weeks ago but not now, i believe this happens when they spray the plantations,

I don't know why, but I find Callao Salvaje depresses me. :-|
