I moved about 12 weeks ago now and the forum was a great help. But it took a lot of asking and trawling through threads to get all the info. I don't think one thread can replace all those great threads but if I were say planning a move and I was Mr and Mrs Joe Bloggs with the usual 21/2 kids what would be best advise you could give me , 1 before I move and 2 when I first arrive.

The first I would give would be to read through the posts in this and the living in... section and if you don't understand ask.

Secondly before you move come over for a couple of weeks and don't just treat it as a holiday, get some of the paper work etc out of the way before you come because the first weeks will be a whirlwind.

Thirdly , if you can afford it get some help with the paperwork as you will have enough on your plate , believe me.


So if all the people that have moved here or are in the process off could add a fourthly , fifthly etc maybe it could help some people. Don't forget not everyone is computer literate so having a starting point when arriving at the forum might help them.

Two things , 1 maybe the thread could be changed to something like Tips from those wh have done it and secondly trebs post is great(one of the best around) but everyone has had different little if only's etc so maybe this could be more of avoid the pitfalls thread.
