Congratulations on the signing of your house contracts - definately no turning back just onward and upward as they say. Good Luck, TomA.

Now this forum has its pluses but a plus can be a negative. Just spotted Janet's Thread on wills HERE. The plus is I have all this information but the negative is, the more I read the more I realise the things I need to do. (But then again thats a positive as I need to know these things) I don't have a will here and I did not realise I needed one at home as well as one in Spain. Now I know. I'll be in contact Janet. . Read Janet's post in regards to wills to see what I mean.

Think I need some sleep

This dog thing is turning out to be the biggest hurdle. It seems the only option from here is Iberia and that involves a stop over for the dogs plus an overnighter at least in Tenerife(are the cargo areas open on Sunday in Tenerife?) Oh well it has to be done what ever way.

Our top areas for living were Los Cristianos and El Medano. We had kind ruled out Los Cristianos as been to expensive and just a bit too crowded. So we then were concentrating on El Medano as you can get good accomadation for less money. Also it is near our apartments (15 Min's)Also the school thing for our young fellow was also a big priority as he will be starting school in September. But a big thing with us was the wind. In the weather thread today it was posted that wind can become unbearable up there unless wind sports are your thing. So now we have doubts in that side of things also. Is it that bad up there and if so what are opinions on other areas that have "good" schools and reasonable rent rates. I have seen rates in other HERE but opinions on these areas would be good.

Thanks

Have a look at Graceylacey's posts in the weather thread, Tom. El Medano can be VERY windy, as a constant.

Speak to Jennie, and Gracey herself. Both have lived in El Medano, one has moved out, and the other is thinking about it.

And take a good look at where they built the wind farm

Saw that and that's what got me thinking more than I was already.
Mind you how bad can it be. A couple of cats and dogs just floated by here, the ind has been blowing all day and there was thunder just a few Min's ago. Oh yeah its about 7 degrees. All in perspective.

Yes it can be very windy in El Medano, but then again you can have periods when its very light. Its not manically windy all the time.

Though we moved to El Medano because of the wind, as my husband and I are keen windsurfers.

We have just brought a house in El Medano with the expert help of Janet.

We rented before we brought, in a similar house with three bedrooms, and brought our pooch Basil with us, paid an arm and leg for Basils transport (used a specialist pet transport company) but he got here safetly.

Contact graceylacy if you decide to rent in El Medano, she lives there and also manages houses there.

But to be fair, one moved out not because of the weather and I cant find anywhere else nicer than here!

The wind has got to me major these last few weeks, but I have been told by some one who has lived in EL Med for last 6 years that this wind is unusual

I will be staying here, I cant leave, I love it too much!

Well it looks like the dogs are sorted. I'll post this HERE so any Irish people can get animals over.

The excess baggage is been done by and Irish shipping company @ about €5.20 a kilo and I can be PM'd for their details.

Tickets are booked and my wife and young lad will travel separate to me. I go with the dogs(some people say I have gone to the dogs years ago). We (me and the dogs) arrive in at 2am and will be met by elmar services.

So now, just all the packing etc which is never ending. Never knew we had so much junk.

Once its all done this side I then need to start asking about that side.
