Default Places of interest to visit in Tenerife

We are taking our friends out for the day tomorrow to have a run up to look at Teide. They have never been there before. It's really my favourite place. We will be going up from the Arona side and then coming down the other side stopping at Garachico on the way back. I'm sure it will be a good day. Going to pack a big picnic and will stop off at one of the picnic areas up there and then maybe stop off at the cafe up there for a fresh cream waffle and a cafe con leche

We gave Masca a miss this time and went over the top and down the other end near Icod. We stopped at one of the picnic areas on the way up. The weather was hot up there and the views fantastic. There is an excellent visitor centre up there with a free cinema and a film all about how the Canary Islands and Teide started which was really interesting. Outside there is a garden area with hundreds of lizards that are so tame. They said the reason for this is that they have got used to all the visitors feeding them with tomato and bananas, it's well worth a visit if you ever go up there We ended our trip in Garachico. Although we couldn't get out onto the walkways as the sea was rough and the red flag was flying, we had a lovely walk around the village. It was a good day had by all

It sounds idyllic Cathy. I am very jealous.

It is at one of the visitor centres, but I cant remember the name of it.

I think the best way to desccribe its location is this:

From the cable car station / cafe come back down to the main road (so Teide is behind you at this point) and turn left, drive along there and it is on the left hand side further along.

Sorry this is so vague, but hope it points you in the general direction!

It's very near the El Portillo junction, Andy, where the road divides to go right to La Esperanza or straight on to La Orotava.

Don't forget to take a couple of tomato's or bananas to feed the lizards. They are very tame and feed from your hand
