Default Using the Bus to Explore in Tenerife

Most tourists just think that Tenerife is based around sea, sand, sangria, Las Americas, Los Cristianos. It's not, it is a beautiful Island and if you haven't been to any of the other places, give it a try. The bus service is excellent out here and I think one of the best ways of seeing the Island if you haven't got a car. You can buy what you call a Bono Card You pay so much for this and it covers you to get on the bus and travel around and get off at as many stops as you want. The buses take you through the little Canarian villages and you can get off and explore. There is also a bus that goes up Teide, through Villaflor etc., which is also a wonderful place. It's much better than doing a tour as you can get off at all the stops you want to explore. Maybe some of you have these tickets and could tell us about your experience.

Here is some information that I found about it..........http://www.resortsinspain.com/tenerife/titsa.htm

I agree, I thought it was excellent. How much does the Bono pass cost?

It is a brilliant way to get around to see the Island. My Mother and Father in law buy a bono card, they love it and use it all the time. I don't think there are many places they haven't seen on the Island through this

I take the bus all the time. It's generally a very good reliable service. The 343 bus from Puerto to Las Americas is very convenient, but costs a bomb. €6.25 each way with a bonobus, or something like €11.60 without.

There's only one problem with "getting off and stopping whenever you want" on the way up to Mt. Teide - there's only one bus up past Vilaflor to Las Cañadas, and one bus back down in the afternoon. :-)
