Default Vado Permanente

Anyone out there know how to apply for a "Vado Permanente", it's the sign one can put outside a property to stop others parking and blocking an entrance or garage.

You apply at your local Ayuntamiento take ID and escritura and copies, plus Catastral ref and plan of your gateway/ property and the street its in. Some ayuntamientos vary about exact procedure for applications so enquire first.

If you are in Adeje, it may take some time. I applied well over a year ago for our complex (yes- people are entitled to park blocking the entrance to the underground garage - duh) and the bloke who does it seems to be on permanent sick-leave so nothing has been done for 18 months. (Somebody else take over? you have to be kidding).

It costs around 45 euros a year in Adeje, I think, per vehicle using the exit.

Actually I'm in Guia de Isora province but I doubt they'll be any more "with it" than Adeje, we'll see.

Thanks again for that but sorry, I'm not quite sure what Catastral ref is.

When I have all that info together could you do it for me (local ayuntamiento is in Guia), if so PM me with possible cost (of your services and the cost of the permit).

So for a complex of say, 50 cars/parking spaces, would you have to pay 50x45 euros - surely not?

Yes! Mirador's is going to be thousands when they finally work out exactly how many parking spaces we have! And that's per annum!

It's hard to believe, but the cost of one Vado Permanente sign at the exit of the underground garage to our complex will cost about 5,000 euros per year.

(Simplified version) When they get the plan of the complex, they look at the parking spaces using the entrance/exit, and simply multiply the cost by the number of cars using it. Not only that, but they have inspected the plans of our complex with 97 apartments, and claimed that some of the garages underground are large enough for 2 cars, so it's not just 97 times 45 euros, but around 108-120, depending on how many of the garages are actually big enough for 2 cars. This insane calculation then produces problems for the community. The logical thing would be to just pay the bill from community funds, but the smaller apartments with the smaller community charges are those with the larger garages, so some are saying that those with garages big enough for 2 cars should pay twice as much as others. This is ironic because most of them have transformed their large garages into additional bedrooms, so they can't park even one car, but they can't tell the Ayuntamiento that because they are all illegal extensions.

I think it's hilarious that the word Ayuntamiento is derived from 'help'

Meanwhile, please feel free, anyone, to park in front of the exit - it is perfectly legal for you to do this. It is also perfectly legal for you to park in front of our rubbish bin house, so that the rubbish cannot be collected. We can't get a Vado Permanente for that, because it's not an exit.
