Question Is it still 7am queuing time? May 2008

Just checking if we still have to queue as early as 7am?
Can we go and pick up the bank payment form at a more reasonable time first?

Thanks for everyones input on the previous pages.

Talking Moon.

Yes, go any morning any time and go to the first desk on the right in the hall on the right. Ask for a modelo for Registro.

My times match Goldenmaniac's ... there from 7.30 out at 10, there from 7.45 out at 10.30 or so.

Default Help!

Can someone help me?

Just been to the Santander (callao) to pay the 9e for the NIE, but been told that I need an NIE to pay the 9e!!!!

I tried to tell them to use my passport no as reference, but they were insistant that I had to go the the police station and get a provisional NIE first the pay the 9e, then go back ot the policestation with my completed forms for the permenant one?

To me this sounds ludicrous and think its just the wonderful Santander being their typical useless self, but can anyone confirm???? Or should I just try Caja Canarias or Banca March?

UPDATE Went to BBVA and they done it no problems!

Glad you've got it done, but just for future reference for others, Santander are the only bank, I think, who have a problem with this. You do NOT need a provisional NIE to pay the 9€. All banks accept the passport number in the box which asks for the NIE. All banks except Santander, that is.

In fact, Santander can accept the passport number, but it requires the teller to do something to their computer system which most seem unable to do, or unaware that they could do it.

Can anyone help please.

I have a friend that has lost her NIE during a recent move.

She needs to get a Certificado de Registro anyhow, will they be able to sort out the paperwork for the replacement NIE at the same time as processing the registro?

Or should she go to the police station and tell them she's lost her NIE first?

Thanks

If I remember rightly Caz the best way is to apply for a new NIE if you lose it and you can apply for an NIE and Certificado at the same time I think.

Janet will be able to confirm tomorrow.
