Default Certificado de Registro Questions and Answers Thread

There is a thread HERE with information on how to fill out the Certificado de Registro application form, and the procedure to follow to get your Certificate.

After getting all the correct documents (except the medelo) as per @Duderock's sticky post, I joined the queue at 7:30am this morning. There were about 30 people ahead of us.

At 9:15 two policia came out, and separated spanish nationals from extranjeros (no idea why) into 2 queues.

As we got to the front, they asked us if we had 'paid the tax' which we hadn't, so no ticket. We went in and got the modelo 790s and off to the bank.

Back at the police station at 10am, and got a ticket A29, when they were seeing A23 at the time.

Half an hour later, we were the proud possessors of the 'magic blue-tinged certificados'

We were lucky. The lesson from this is to make it a 2-stage process: call in during the day to get the modelo 790 and process it at your bank. The next morning - join the early queue.

Thanks to @Duderock - without his info, we could never hae done it

Just to update desks have moved again!!! as of my visit on 2nd April.

"A" tickets are for Europeans "B" tickets are for non european non Spansih.
Spanish have a completely seperate numbering and appointment system.

As you enter the Extranjeria (turn right after coming through the main Police station entrance) The first desk you come to is still " Information" the whole of the left hand side desks are now for Spanish nationals, at the end of the room there are two desks straight in front at the end (A's - European nationals) and then sideways-on at the bottom right are now the "B's" non Spanish non European.

I think the officers get bored so like a change of scenery every so often

Mine is green too, any idea on how / if I need to change my address?

Do we just need to go through the same process as the new registrations, or is there something different we need to do?

just to let you know my husband had to get his today and went to the bank first, so he got to the police station just before 9 a.m. (i assume, as the banks don't open till 8:30 and he went in armeñime). he had his certificado done by 10 a.m.
it's good to know the queues are not as bad as they used to be

You wouldn't need to change your address. If it became an issue at any time, you would just get an up-to-date Certificado de Empadronamiento.

It's a sort of bluey-green - maybe their printer was on the fritz, or my eyes are peculiar..

Yes, it's the permanent one.

I asked at the Comisaría information desk when the new greeny certificates came out last year and was told that for change of address it was sufficient to advise town halls concerned, as somewhat of an info overload I was also told that the only reasons to get green certificate changed/baja-ed were :
1) permanent return to home country, 2) change of marital status and 3) wait for it .......
change of sex!

Question

Sorry to sound thick (and I'm not even blonde) but has the Certificado de Registro completely replaced the Residencia, or is it yet another step between NIE and Residencia?
