Carlos Restaurant, San Eugenio The family recently visited Carlos Restaurant in San Eugenio and we had a fantastic evening!
The restaurant is owned by John and Mandy - John is the chef who creates all the fantastic dishes on the menu, bringing his Portugese influence to the dishes he provides.
There are two menus available - an early evening menu from 6.30 - 7.30 pm (3 courses at €13.95 a head) and an a la carte menu available all evening.
The cuisine is "international" with some stunning items on the menu. John and Mandy shop daily for the freshest ingredients, which is apparent when you taste their food.
Although we each had our own meals it was impossible not to dig in and try each others food. The food is beautifully presented and your mouth immediate starts to water. Once you taste it you won't be disappointed.
Our dishes included:
Prawn Piri Piri - juicy prawns in a tomato and cream sauce with a chilli kick
Carlos Sizzling Pork / Sizzling beef - two platters full of melt in the mouth meat with delicious herbs and spices
Cod Portugese - Scrummy Cod and Prawns in a tomato garlic and white wine cream sauce.
....as well as a bumper Mixed Grill and an Islander Kebab made from beautiful pork and beef fillet with herb butter.
Even though we were well and truly full it was impossible to resist the dessert menu. The banoffee pie, strawberry nut sundae and toffee and banana nut sundae went down a treat (yes, I did share them... reluctantly).
If you are looking for a special night out then this is the place to go... the restaurant is a really tranquil setting... cosy and comfy inside and relaxing under the fairy lights on the outside. The music is easy listening and the staff are attentive yet unobtrusive. The focus is on you taking your time and savouring your dining experience.
To find Carlos drive past the San Eugenio shopping centre and hang a left at Scotch Corner. Just down the hill on the left you will find the restaurant... just sat back a little from the road.
I will post full details on the Business Review Section.
