Direct Telecom have announced that Telefonica's fixed line monopoly in Spain has finally been shattered.
They..Direct Telecom..have said in September 2008 clients new and old will be able to migrate competely.. your fixed telephone line and related services you may have with Telefonica to Direct Telecom.
All you do is authorize Direct Telecom to make the switch..Direct Telecom will take charge of your phone line so you do not have to deal with Telefonica again or receive anymore more bills from them..everything concerning your phone line..internet connection..billing etc will be through Direct Telecom.
If you have any problems with your services..you will speak with Direct Telecom not Telefonica!
I am not sure if this has been posted before today..I did trawl through the Telefonica thread but did not find anything relating to this particular news.

I think it will..the service already provided by Direct Telecom is in my opinion first class..I honestly believe it will be a pleasure to have everything..telephone..internet and bills under the umbrella of Direct Telecom...theTelefonica nightmare will be a thing of the past.
Trust me the guys at DT do a fantastic job. I had the pleasure of working for them last year and any failings will not be through a lack of planning or effort!!!
If anyone can sort through the mess caused by Telefonica, it's the guys an gals of DT

I must say, we have been so impressed by their problem resolving with telefonica for our customers who had difficulties whom we suggested they contact Direct Telecom as we do not have time to fight telefonica personally for them, we have become agents for Direct Telecom now.
Unfortunately - Telefonica still own the infrastructure - the local link is not 'unbundled' - so until other providers can put their own equipment into Telefonica exchanges, we will still be at Telefonica's mercy
