Default Home needed for Staffy bitch.

I have just taken a phone call from an entertainer on Amarilla Golf. A guy who used to compere here has done a vanishing act, leaving 2 dogs in his apartment. One is a very old Westie, the other a spayed Staffordshire bull terrier bitch. There is a person visiting the apartment, feeding and walking the dogs at the moment, but clearly they need a home, and soon. I said I would post on here first, if there is no joy they will have to go to Eugenio in Live Arico, but we would like to avoid this if possible as a) he is struggling to cope with the 130 odd dogs he already has, and b) it will probably be the end of the old westie. If anyone can help please PM me and will get more details.

Do you know some people never cease to amaze me!!!

I get really annoyed when people move here and decide to get pets before thinking it through!!

How can anybody with a heart have animals..............then just leave them to rot!!

This guy probably intended to stay on the island for X amount of time, but did he not consider when he took these animals on that if he ever did leave then he needed to make provision for them either by rehoming or arranging transpotation to the uk!

Sorry but I hope the bag of shit rots in hell and one day when he is old and bedridden, he will just be left to starve..................

Well said Uptowngirl.

It to amazes me. I had to leave our 2 doggies behind when we came back because they did not have their passports. So, I left them with a friend who will be getting them "done" so they can enter the UK. It only cost 367€ for the pair and Andy Dog will be keeping them looking great when he clips them every month or so.

It does not cost a lot to ship dogs to the UK.........

Update: The person who has a key for the apartment and who found the dogs has managed to contact their original owner. This person, also an entertainer here, moved back to the UK about 3 weeks ago leaving them in the care of the guy who has done a vanishing act. He is trying now to get them over to the UK, and Live Arico are taking them for the time being. The person who contacted me about the situation thinks we should at least give him the chance to put things right and get them home, but I will stay in touch with Eugenio and find out if the wheels are in motion, and what the situation is. I will keep you informed. Thanks for your concern.

My Friend has said she would like to meet the Staffie if you still need a home for her, no promises, it is really if she gets on with her own dog etc. Sunday afternoon is a good time.

Pm me if you wish to swap phone numbes so you both can chat etc. & find out more.

If the situation is resolved let me know too.

xx

Thanks P. As I said above though, the original owner of the dogs has said he is going to make every effort to get them back to the UK, so I guess we have to give him the chance to make good on his promise. I will moniter the situation closely though, and as the dogs are with Eugenio this will not be difficult.

This happens quite a lot over here! It happened to Oscar our dog and we hear of a lot more. It's right that people should not get dogs or cats if they know they are going to go back in the near future. It is so expensive to get a dog or cat back to the UK, so if you are thinking of going back or feel as if you are not settled then just don't get one.

I know!! We are quick to criticise the Canarian´s treatment of dogs, but sadly, we Brits are often no better.

Yes I agree with you there Suzy! Oscar was left with no food or water on a hot balcony, by a couple of English. If I could find them I would do the same to them and see how they like it. I really hate cruelty and with there being so many excellent dog sanctuaries here in Tenerife that can help, all it needed was a phone call. He is a really lovely handsome boy now and seems so thankful and gives us to much love.
