We can see smoke too from there

I can hear the helicopters but they seem to be the other side of the mountain La Orotava or there abouts

Guessing by the smoke it is quite a big fire, worse still it is being fanned by quite strong winds.

Saw that too, Janet, from my house in Tejina. It flew higher into the pine forests. Can't see any smoke though and the water drops seem to have stopped for now. Maybe it's out.

Cant see anything in the news ...

There was an outbreak in El Tanque yesterday but that was brought under control yesterday, and that's in the wrong direction for the helicopter anyway.

Can you still see the smoke Princess, because there's nothing visible from Vera.

Nope it seems to have all gone now, thank goodness, I was gardening till about 8pm last night, kept looking up & there was still a smallish plume but nothing today.

If you smelt smoke it could have been me burning all my smelly garden rubbish, absolute heaven to have a bonfire again, stood by with large shovel & hose in case, did not wish to meet bomberos the state I was in :O

If you had met the bomberos or the police, I think it might have cost you a 600 euro fine for lighting the fire in the first place.

Quite right Perikles and at this time of year you were quite lucky to get away with it Princess. I posted this info the other day. You need to get a license from the council offices for a fire. It's free but takes a few weeks to get. Once you have it it lasts for 6 months. Before you have your fire you have to phone the local police and they will say yes or no for that day. Even with a license and local police permission make sure that the smoke is white. If black smoke starts to come from the fire put it out straight away. Its the Guardia Civil who will give you the fine they are the environment police.
This covers any fires big or small except purpose made BBQ's
