A cayuco carrying 66 immigrants was intercepted near Puerto Colón earlier today, and was escorted to Los Cristianos. Three of the occupants were female, and three others possibly minors.

Three were taken to the El Mojón emergency centre, one with a leg injury, and the other two with hypoglycemia.

A cayuco carrying 146 immigrants, 20 of whom were possibly minors, arrived at El Medano at around 6am this morning.

Although not intercepted at sea, the craft made shore on its own, and the immigrants were attended on the beach by Red Cross while the Guardia Civil and National Police searched the area in case some immigrants had already made it inland.

Canarias24Horas

Numbers now reported as 148 immigrants, 6 of whom are possibly minors. One of the 148 was taken to hospital for dehydration.

Also reported that it was residents of El Médano who notified the Guardia Civil and National Police of the craft's arrival. Those occupants who immediately left the cayuco and made their way through the area were later localized by the police.

A cayuco arrived at Alajeró in La Gomera at 1pm, Friday 11 July, carrying 59 immigrants, 4 of whom had died during the journey. 11 of the survivors, all adult males, were in poor condition and were taken to hospital centres, the 4 who were most seriously ill were brought to hospital in Tenerife.

Some of the survivors claimed that other bodies had been thrown into the sea en route for the Canaries. Apparently, the craft lost direction and the immigrants had been several days without drinking water.

EDIT> It's reported this morning that one of the four seriously ill immigrants who was transferred to Tenerife has now died.

16 immigrants arrived in a patera at El Hierro today, having spent 8 days at sea since leaving Gambia. The craft was spotted by a fishing vessel around 11pm last evening, and its occupants were assisted to shore. All seem in good health, and one might be a minor.

The numbers for the cayuco which arrived at Vallehermoso last evening at 9.30pm are confirmed now as 56, not 57, of which 5 are possibly minors. Three of the 56 have been admitted to hospital for hypothermia.

A second craft has arrived at Los Cristianos at 2.45 am carrying 60 immigrants, 6 of which are possibly minors. All seem in good health.

A cayuco of 80 immigrants arrived at Playa Santiago in the south of La Gomera today, of whom 9 are thought to be minors. One of them had already died ... his brother, also on the boat, said that he was only 16. One other occupant of the boat was taken to hospital with hypothermia.
