Puerto de la Cruz hotels Xibana Park and La Paz to close due to recession at cost of 100 jobs

Up to 100 more workers are set to lose their jobs as Puerto de la Cruz hotels Xibana Park and La Paz look about to close. Union sources also say that the company that owned the hotels,Quality Hotels & Resort SL, owed employees wages for September and October, as well as holiday payments, after the business went into administration last December (as posted HERE).

The receivers now say that the business is not financially viable and they have applied to the Mercantile Court to cease trading. Unions are in despair over the loss of jobs, and the knock-on effect this will have on tourism in Puerto de la Cruz, as well as the inevitable resulting impact on the local job market. JAA
