The 28 kilometre Adeje-Santiago del Teide TF1 extension should be completed by October 2011 if there are no unexpected delays. Moreover, works are proceeding so well that the Armeñime bridge junction should be in operation this December. To avoid confusion, the Armeñime bridge junction is not directly in the town of Armeñime, but further uphill and towards Guía de Isora. This is, therefore, a new and different roundabout junction to the current Atalaya end of the motorway.
The upbeat explanation of the new junction and bridge that is currently well advanced in construction was provided earlier today by project engineer Alfonso Hoyos, accompanied by the Canarian Government Councillor for Public Works Juan Ramón Hernández, Roads Councillor Mónica Méndez, and Guía de Isora mayor Pedro Martín.
