What I repeatedly fail to understand is the difference, whatever it is, between Live Arico and other official charities.
I have come to recognize that Live Arico is "official". It is one of the designated and registered animal rescue charities. But it is very far from the only one.
What it is about this particular charity that means it is always in crisis? We never hear of the others.

Probably because they have the largest number of animals in care plus a poor percentage being adopted.

Maybe because the others havent got me banging on about them incessantly
On a lighter note, the water has just gone back on. Somebody somewhere pulled the right strings. The Cabildo are visiting Eugenio and the dogs after the weekend, and it looks like they are going to assist in getting Eugenio onto a designated piece of land. At last. Lets hope all goes well. They realise he has to leave Amarilla Golf so a solution needs to be found, and quick. The cabildo have the power to force an ayuntamiento to pass the land, and due to a few generous people here, the finance is just about in place, for the piece in Arico anyway, which is ridiculously cheap. We will see.
I think what John means, is that whenever there is a thread about LA and its problems, the same people come up with the euthanasia argument. You have your opinions and I respect that, but to a person (not particularly me, but anyone involved in an animal charity) who spends hours and hours every week trying to do something positive, to bring about changes etc, its just like a kick in the teeth, however unintended, thats how it feels.

I hear what you say, but it does not excuse somebody using an insulting expression he picked up on Facebook to label those who disagree with your stance. There is a clear difference between those who look at a long-term and sustainable solution to a depressing problem and those who can't see further than an instant solution to a problem which only serves to aggravate it. We all live in different worlds, obviously. That's fine.

Conversely the same people harp on about how the world and his wife should provide for the one charity that they champion.
I’m disappointed that John invariably lowers the tone of any discussions with personal or childish remarks when he is opposed to the views of a number of parties involved.
Unfortunately he has never yet apologised for any offhand remark which is probably due to his special status as an “entertainer”.
I am so pleased that the water is back on & that things appear to be moving forward re the land Suzy..
I can imagine it feels like a kick in the teeth, for those who work so hard to keep the dogs alive & well, to hear someone suggest euthanasia - as a final resort to the problem.
Very best of luck to Eugenio & all of you, lets hope 2010 sees live arico in its own home..

Great news Suzi. Anything we can do in the future, please let us know. xxx
And isn't it ironic that the CANARIES get their name from the Latin word for DOGS! Perhaps the authorities can justify complete support for Live Arico and turn it around in to something positive based on the history of the islands.
