The little three-year-old girl who was gravely injured as a result of abuse, injuries and burns in Tenerife, died last night. The child was admitted to the Hospital Universitario de La Candelaria. Efforts to save her life by medical personnel were fruitless and, late last night the sad news of her death was released.
The final forensic tests on the dead child do not confirm sexual abuse. The autopsy is still awaited, but according to sources close to the investigation, her presumed killer will appear in Court charged with being responsible for her death, but not sexual abuse.
The 25-year-old man arrested on charges of injuring and burning the the three-year-old girl, daughter of his girlfriend, will appear early today in Court 7 of Arona.
Guardia Civil sources advised that the man, originally from Madrid, and who had lived with the child's mother for several months in Costa del Silencio, south Tenerife, is currently under guard in Arona Guardia Civil. The man was arrested after taking the child to a health centre.
Also, on TV right now, they have changed the headline text to remove "raped".
I have been in tears reading this, as my 2 year old lies asleep beside me on the sofa. As a mum I would do anything to protect my children. How could any mother stand by and watch their child being hurt and abused. I hope the scumbag burns in hell!

The 25-year-old man arrested as presumed perpetrator of injuries and abuse carried out on Aitana, the 3-year-old child who died last night in a Tenerife hospital, has acknowldged, in his initial court appearance, that he hit the child, but has denied sexual abuse, according to sources close to the investigation.
The man, appearing in court, is from Madrid and was the boyfriend of the child's mother. He was arrested on Wednesday after taking the little girl, who was suffering breathing problems, to El Mojón health centre, in south Tenerife.
The doctor who attended the child alerted the Policía Local, given that the child, apart from suffering cardiac arrest, presented with injuries and burns.
The child was admitted to Hospital de La Candelaria but died late last night after suffering a further heart attack.
Health sources have notified the press that child's body has been transferred to the Instituto de Medicina Legal where the autopsy will be conducted.
The accused is appearing in Court 7 de Arona, the munbicipality where he has lived with the little girl's mother for several months.
The Canarian Government and the the Parliament of the Canaries has called a minute's silence in memory of the dead child.
There is clearly some confusion about this accusation of rape. The various papers are changing their headlines literally minute by minute as we are watching this on TV at the moment. There is clearly something physically suggestive of abuse, but maybe not by this man. El Pais is saying "presumed rape". The autopsy will hopefully clarify further, but I suspect the police are going to want to know more about the mother's past if this man is not eventually accused of sexual abuse.
Sorry to be so factual. I just can't deal with this.
The autopsy results are still awaited, but Aitana's presumed killer has appeared in Arona’s Court 7 today, where he admitted hitting her, but no more. In view of his denial of involvement in her death, the Court has ruled that he should be kept in custody for the legally permitted maximum of 48 hours for initial investigations. JAA
