A German Pensioner who went missing from an old people's home two months ago has been found alive and well, sunning herself on a beach in the Canaries.
The 68-year-old woman was the subject of major manhunt in April including a police helicopter and sniffer dogs in her home town of Engelskirchen in western Germany.
The woman was found sunning herself on a beach by an employee of the retirement home, who just happened to be holidaying in Gran Canaria
Extraordinary case ... I have been trying to track down more on this - no one seems to know yet, just how she managed to get to Gran Canaria. She had been described as orientierungslos (confused) when she went missing.
The authorities have said they will leave her finish her holiday
After all she is only 68 years young, just because she is a "Pensioner" and lives in a "Retirement Home" does not mean she is incapable of making her own decisions and acting on them, ie.going off on "Holiday" (albeit not informing anyone) as far as being confused..she seems to have known exactly what she wanted to do..she could have holidayed for many years in Gran Canaria, and obviously knows the procedure..flights etc.
She appears to be a very strong willed and minded person..I hope she enjoys her "Holiday" and returns to the "Retirement Home" tanned and refreshed..ready to plan her next "Holiday"
