Default The Police are asking for help in identifying the body found in the sea near La Caleta.

Guardia Civil officers from Las Américas are investigating the death of a body found today in Playa Diego Hernández in South Tenerife. The unfortunate person was spotted by a pleasure craft. Initial forensic tests suggests that death was by drowning.

Identification is still unclear, and the police are looking for information: the body is male and around 30-35 years of age, 1.8 metres tall, with long hair and a beard. It was naked, as one would expect from the location given that the beach is a nudist one. On one arm is a tattoo of the name "Maria Inés" in the middle of a heart.

The police are still struggling to identify the body found in the sea near La Caleta on Sunday. Fingerprints have been taken but do not match any in the police database.

More details have been released in the hope that someone will come forward to help give the body an identity:

male, between 38 and 42 years old.
1.80 m tall.
Athletic build.
White but tanned.
Curly, shoulder-length mid-brown hair with some grey.
Three tattoos, one as described above, another of a Playboy bunny, and a third of two dolphins facing each other in flight.

There is also a long scar on the left of the face running from the left earlobe to the chin, though this was semi-hidden by a beard. There is also a mole on the left cheek.

The man was wearing two gold earrings, and two bracelets, one consisting of a leather thread with an inset showing a drawing of an eye, the other being beige plastic links.

The Guardia Civil would urgently like to hear from anyone who can give any information about this person. Please call 062.

Wow, I am shocked to hear this as I VERY nearly drowned near there in April.

How sad that nobody knows who he was or has reported him missing.
