I don't understand the technicalities of this report which as far as I can make out, reports on an agreement between Google and Tenerife, funded to the tune of 300,000 euros by various municipalites of Tenerife, to promote the island on the internet.

The result of the campaign is that in the last 7 months, Tenerife has had 400,000,000 hits. That sounds like a lot.

Can anyone explain the significance of this, if any? Presumably tourism is behind it all.
