 An 80-year-old woman drowned today at Playa de las Américas Details are still unavailable, but an 80-year-old woman drowned at around 2pm this afternoon in Playa de las Américas. A call was made to the Emergency Services on 112 that someone had disappeared under the water, and while they were arriving, Civil Protection lifeguards brought the woman from the water and tried to give her mouth to mouth resuscitation. When the ambulance arrived they continued to try to bring the woman back to life, but without success. She was confirmed dead before leaving the beach. Canarias24Horas Canarias 7

| Timely reminder for us all. "The mind may be willing but the body?". I really get annoyed with my wife she still thinks she is 21 when she's swimming in the sea and always goes too far out. Very sad. |
