Spain will invest a further 306 million Euros in hydraulic works in the Canaries, which will be effective between now and 2012, the minister of Rural and Marine Environment, Elena Espinosa, announced last month. It replaces the agreement signed in 1997 which granted investments of 597 million Euros, despite originally allowing only for 456 million Euros.
98 million will come from central government, and 208 million via the Canarian Government and the Cabildos.
It's good to see some serious money being put into the water infrastructure here, and it will mean that many will no longer have to depend on local water "companies".
