The wine waiter from the Abama Hotel, Álvaro Prieto, has won the title of Best Sommelier in the Canaries 2008.
Second place went to the wine waiter from the Gran Hotel Palacio de Isora, Aniceto García.
The sommeliers were assessed by representatives from bodegas, hotels, journalists, and members of various regulatory councils. The judging took place in the Canary Convention held at the Hotel College in Santa Cruz, and organised by the Canarian Institute of Agroalimentary Quality, Ashotel, Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Shipping, and the Canarian Foundation Corn Exchange of Tacoronte.
