A two-year-old managed to get out of his nursery, El Duende Verde, in C/. Los Sabandeńos, Los Cristianos, on Tuesday at around 4.30 pm, and wandered around for three quarters of an hour near Correos before another child of around 9 or 10 years old took him into the nearby Alba bar. The nursery attendants were not aware of his absence until they were contacted by the National Police from the Comisaria.
The proprietor of the nursery insisted that they were aware of the loss of the child and were actively searching for him when the Police arrived.
The bar staff said that eventually a Brazilian woman arrived and said that the child had been playing alone for a while and must have got lost, and that the nursery then called 112.
Neighbours have said they can't believe what happened, and that the child was extremely lucky not to have wandered into a road, or to have been kidnapped.
