Arona Local Police arrest a man for using stolen cards to withdraw money from cashpoint machines in La Camella
In the early hours of yesterday morning, around 02:50 am, Arona Local Police arrested a 26-year-old man in La Camella, for fraudulent use of credit cards in an ATM.
The individual was observed acting suspiciously at an ATM, and fled when he spotted the police. They soon found a series of receipts in the ATM showing the withdrawal of several relatively small sums on several cards. They quickly followed and apprehended the individual in Cabo Blanco, where he was found in possession of a large knife and 770€ which he couldn't account for. The cards were later found thrown down the side of a nearby barranco, and it was confirmed that they had indeed been stolen.

What I don't understand is how these stolen cards can be used without knowing the PINs. If somebody stole my card, he/she still would not be able to use it, or can they? Can anybody explain this?

A lot of people still write their PIN number backward on a bit of paper which is normally kept inside their wallet or purse.

Well dont know how they do it but on our last trip to the UK my sister in law used her Spanish 'Barclay card' to get cash from a 'Barclays bank' cash point in Liverpool city centre and had her card 'cloned'! two weeks later and back in Tenerife the card was used twice in Liverpool to the tune of 400 pounds.
Thankfuly she has insurance and the card was canclled by the bank. In fact it was the bank who rang her to tell her she had no idea.
The question is, how did the bank know it was a cloned card?

As we know there is no limit to human stupidity.
We once found a cheque book lying in our carpark. Along with it was the cheque card and one of the blank cheques had been signed.
It's a short step from that to keeping their PIN number with the card for such morons.
