The TEA is the Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, a new contemporary art space. It has been conceived as an accessible and dynamic artistic space, says the press release, full of natural light.

It's a contemporary art gallery, at long last, in Tenerife ... it's been 12 years in the planning, and although in Santa Cruz, that's not going to be such a trek now that the TF1's three lanes is pretty much fully functional.

The gallery will have permanent installations and temporary exhibitions, as well as an art restoration centre, a function hall, and a café/restaurant and shop. It seems there is also a permanently open public library there, the largest in the Canaries.

Entrance to the library and restaurant will be free, though there will be an entry price for the art gallery itself. It won't break the bank, though, because it's just 2.50€ for residents, 5€ for non-residents. What's more, those under 27 and over 65 will just pay €1. It's also possible to become a "friend of the museum" in which case entry will also be €1.

This really is culture for the Canaries.

I really don't know Santa Cruz well enough, so I don't know, I'm afraid, and the sole bit of information I can find on its location doesn't help me. For anyone who knows Santa Cruz, does the Barranco de Santos mean anything, because it's supposed to be on the edge of that.
