A second sudden uncontrollable nosebleed sees the President of the Canaries return to hospital just hours after being released
The President of the Canarian Government, Paulino Rivero, was recently taken into hospital for a fairly bad nose bleed. I didn't post on it because it seemed fairly trivial, and he was allowed out earlier today after just two days as an in-patient. It was said that he had been suffering from stress.
Now, though, he's been taken back into hospital, just hours after having been released, having suffered a relapse when he returned to the radio interview he'd had to interrupt when he was taken ill. As on the first occasion, the interview started normally, but was interrupted by a sudden uncontrollable nosebleed. Again, he was taken to the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Sr Rivero himself had told waiting journalists on his way into the radio station that he was fully recovered, and that it had just been a minor incident that affected his nasal capillaries.
Government sources say that he will be in hospital for as long as the doctors consider appropriate.

The President is to remain in hospital, having spent a quiet night under medical supervision. His duties are currently being performed by the Vice President of the Regional Executive, José Manuel Soria.
Sr Soria said "he is resting. The doctors have have proposed a more exhaustive analysis".

Re: A second sudden uncontrollable nosebleed sees the President of the Canaries return to hospital just hours after being released
According to a press release at midday, Paulino Rivero has undergone a successful surgical procedure to his right nostril, though he will stay in hospital until he is fully recovered. During the operation, it was discovered that there was a break in an "ethmoidal arterial branch" which was provoked by high blood pressure and which has now been cauterized.

It seems that Paulino Rivero has had a second operation to cauterize a further branch of the same artery, after having another two nasal haemorrhages as a result of high blood pressure. Another press release is expected tomorrow.

Re: A second sudden uncontrollable nosebleed sees the President of the Canaries return to hospital just hours after being released
Sr Rivero is recovering well with a favourable prognosis after two operations, according to his doctors. They say he could return to normal activity in a week's time, providing the week's rest prescribed is taken, and that all continues well.
Re: A second sudden uncontrollable nosebleed sees the President of the Canaries return to hospital just hours after being released
Sr Rivero will be off work for a fortnight on medical advice, after having a third procedure for nasal haemorrhages. After continuing to suffer nosebleeds after two cauterizations, doctors have now blocked an artery through radiological treatment.
Re: A second sudden uncontrollable nosebleed sees the President of the Canaries return to hospital just hours after being released
The President has now been discharged from hospital, and is considered to be "progressing satisfactorily within the normal parameters for this type of procedure".
