CajaCanarias and the Tenerife Chamber of Commerce (Fedeco:
Federación de
Comercio de Tenerife) will help shoppers to buy Christmas and Reyes goods from small and medium-sized businesses, by means of a six-month interest-free credit card issued by CajaCanarias. The businesses will not have to bear any of the cost either. Shoppers will simply ask at the time of purchase for the option of paying under the six-month-interest-free scheme. The move is intended to help both consumers and businesses in crisis at an economically crucial time of year.
The scheme will also involve a financial contribution from the Bank to advertising to encourage Christmas shoppers to buy in local establishments.
The agreement was signed by the Presidents of CajaCanarias and Fedeco, Álvaro Arvelo Hernández, and Luis de Miguel Bartolomé.
