Trafico is to run a campaign against the use of mobile telephones whilst driving
The Guardia Civil is to mount traffic control points to reinforce a Trafico campaign on all Spanish roads against the use of mobile phones by drivers. The campaign will run between 12 and 25 November, and will try to bring drivers' attention to the dangers involved in the use of devices that distract their attention.
Watch out if you're a mobile user whilst driving!

Sorry Janet not your post. But they should be cracking down 24-7 not just for a couple of days.
Use of mobile phones whilst driving has overtaken drink driving as the main cause of accidents in the UK. It was one of four things I never let anyone off. I caught you, you got a ticket.
End of.

Here, it's three points of your licence for even 'holding' a mobile phone while driving. I think it's a good thing. One of our friends, just reached out to look at his phone and went right into the back of someone the other week!! Caused him Ł800.00 for the repair bill.
His nibs has one of those 'ear pieces' and it's a god send Except when he's leaving the house and asks 'jack, where's my ear'

Is a back-seat driver a 'device' ?

Because life in Tenerife always involves waiting months for various b*stards who have promised to phone you back for something important. There is a mysterious law of physics that states that when they finally do call you back, you are driving.
