The neighbourhood association of Icor says that they’ve been a whole year trying to get the council to put signs up on the streets, and numbers on their houses, so that their mail can be delivered. Correos has also asked for the Ayuntamiento to get its finger out and help, but they are still waiting. The particular areas affected are Rodrigo, Hediondo, Tajos, Aguelillas, Imoses-Barranquillo, Casitas, Luis Delgado, el Bueno, San Pancracio, Cabezada, Icor and Las Eras.
The association’s spokesman said that they had asked the Ayuntamiento to rectify the situation last February, and subsequently met with councillors of the governing group. They were told that the Ayuntamiento would have to “make a study of the area” and then “discuss the matter”. Months later, they were advised that there were already numbers and street signs, but there were no personnel to put them up. The residents have offered to put them up themselves, but they have been told that they are not allowed to do so … because as a neighbourhood association, their function is to ask for improvements, not carry them out.
The association says that all they get from the Ayuntamiento are excuses after excuses, and meanwhile, they are losing their mail. The Councillors were not available for comment …..
