EU to take Spain to court for too much advertising on television
The European Commission announced today that it is taking Spain to the EU's Court of Justice for exceeding the limits of advertising established by "Televisión sin Fronteras".
The EU executive stressed that the main Spanish TV channels, both public and private, "systematically exceed the limit of 12 minutes per hour for publicity announcements and teleshopping, often exceeding the limit by several minutes over the allowance".
In a communique, EU commissioner Viviane Reding regretted that "despite repeated requests for action, Spain has not introduced the limit of 12 minutes per hour for publicity, and is guilty of a constant bombardment of advertising to the detriment of viewers".
Let's hope they make them spread them out a bit more too, and not give 20 minutes over to advertising in the final five minutes of a film!

I have Sky+ and I never watch live TV. I record everything I want to see then watch it later. It means I can fast forward through the adverts.
A one hour show lasts 40 minutes this way.
Exactly what I do!
