A youth was taken unconscious to the University Hospital after being on the receiving end of what is described as a brutal beating in the small hours of the night before last in La Laguna.
The attack happened as the bars closed, around 3.30am in the entrance to the local known as El Capitel, between C/. Doctor Antonio González and C/. Catedral. It seems that a large group of youths happened to come together as the bars emptied, and a fight ensued. One ended up on the floor, completely unconscious and with various injuries.
Emergency services were called at 3.44 am and an ambulance dispatched. The victim was attended to on the spot, and then taken, still unconscious, to hospital. Police were also dispatched to regain order in the area and to allow the ambulance teams to do their work.
